What is a Cottage Bakery?

A cottage bakery is a small, home-based bakery that operates under cottage food laws, allowing entrepreneurs to prepare and sell certain types of foods made in their personal kitchens. At Say It Ain’t Dough, this means all of our baked goods are lovingly made in a certified home kitchen—never mass-produced—so you get fresh, handcrafted items every time. We follow all local regulations to ensure our products are safe, delicious, and made with care. Supporting a cottage bakery means supporting local, small-batch baking with a personal touch!

Our bakery makes products with gluten, peanuts, tree nuts, dairy, egg, and other allergens. While we make every effort to avoid cross contamination, please be advised that cross contamination is always a risk.

Do you make custom orders?

Yes! From graduation parties to corporate events, we can custom order for you, reach out to us using the Contact Form and we will reach out to build your order!

How big are your loaves of bread?

Our “mini” loaves aren’t so mini, they are baked in a 6.5x3.5 loaf pan and weigh between .75 and 1.5 pounds, depending on flavor. Our mini loaves are perfect for 1-3 people and are a perfect accompaniment for dinner or sandwiches.

Our regular loaves are baked in a 9x5 loaf pan and are double the size of our mini loaves weighing in at 1.5-3 pounds, depending on flavor. Our Large loaves are perfect for 4-6 people and are perfect alongside breakfast or sandwiches.

How do I get my order?

Local delivery

When placing your order, you can choose local delivery if you are within a 10-mile radius of us. Delivery for orders takes place Friday afternoons after 3:00 p.m. Orders must be made by noon on Wednesdays for same week delivery, all orders made after noon on Wednesdays will be delivered the following week. At checkout you will have the ability to leave delivery instructions, such as gate codes or requests to leave the order at the door/hand the order to you.

Porch Pickup

Orders are available for Porch Pickup on Fridays and Saturdays from 9 am to 1 pm. Orders must be placed by 12 pm on Wednesdays for same week pickup. Orders placed after 12 pm will be available for pick up the following week.

Shipping

When placing your order, you can choose for your items to be shipped. Items are shipped on the Monday after your order has been placed. Orders must be placed and confirmed by Friday to ship the following Monday. Tracking information will be sent once your order has shipped.

How do I store my items?

Keep your items in an airtight container or zip lock bag on the counter and enjoy within a week.

If you are not ready to enjoy your items, you can freeze your items in a freezer bag for up to 3 months. When you are ready to enjoy, remove from the freezer about 4 hours before you are ready to enjoy and allow to defrost on the counter. We’ve tested it, it works wonderfully!

If you would like a fresh from the oven feeling, warm sliced bread and other goodies in the oven at 350 degrees for about 5 minutes

Refunds & Returns

Due to the nature of our items, we do not accept returns. If you would like a refund, you must reach out prior to order cut off time, once we start making your order, all sales are final.
